 Academy FAQs and Rules

  • No. Instead, our starter Launch packages include 4 initial lessons over 30 days. This provides an opportunity to develop basic skills for placement into private or group lessons. After the initial 30 days, students can choose to join group format lessons or continue in private lessons.

  • POM Academy’s 30-day recurring membership based lesson program offers different packages of lessons. All packages provide between 4-12 sessions to be used within a 30 day period. Students may choose private lessons, group lessons, and the frequency of lessons. Visit our Rates & Packages page for more information.

  • After the initial 30-day Launch package, all packages and payments are enrolled and billed through an automated payment system.  All membership enrollment packages require 30 days notice to discontinue and exit auto-pay.

  • Learning to ride requires a minimum time commitment of 1 lesson per week.  POM’s well-trained horses need a dependable student base to maintain their fitness and skill.  Horses receive care 24/7 and are exercised and trained on days when they are not involved in lessons.  We avoid overuse of the horses and offer small group classes - all of these strategies ensure top quality learning. POM Academy programs effectively offer horse shares which reduces the overall cost of riding, equipment and lessons to each student.

  • Yes, send us an email to schedule a time to visit:  Contact POM Academy at pomequestrian@gmail.com

  • Yes, for use of POM horses and due to the size of the horses, the weight limit for group lessons is 150 lbs per student and the weight limit for private lessons is 170lbs per student.  This weight limit is set based on availability of horses.

  • Leadline, beginner and intermediate lesson students are required to wear a properly fitted ASTM F1163 and SEI Certified helmet and paddock boots or high top boots with a heel.  Cowboy boots are not permitted.  Advanced lesson students are also required to wear tall boots or half chaps and riding gloves.  Groundwork lesson students are required to wear closed toed shoes, preferably riding boots, and gloves.  All students must wear close fitting pants for riding lessons.  We recommend:  breeches, britches, jodhpurs, a belt, tucked-in shirt, socks, gloves, hair tied back, and appropriate boots as described above.

  • Contact us via email to let us know.  The flexible scheduling on Acuity Scheduling App allows each student to customize their riding times.  The times that you book are the only times that your lessons are available.  There are no trades, cancellations, or carryovers, for any reason.  Lessons that result in a no show or less than 1 week notice to reschedule are not refundable.  Only 1 lesson per package is eligible for rescheduling.  Inclusion in groups, progress, and rider safety depend on maintaining your lesson times.  If advance notice of 1 week is given and rescheduling is needed or extended issues arise related to your package commitment contact POM Academy at pomequestrian@gmail.com.

  • Students may only reschedule with 1 week notice if the student has time remaining in their current 30 day package.  Only 1 lesson per package is eligible for rescheduling, if times are available on the horse and for the level needed.  Lessons missed in one package are not transferable to future packages.

  • Beginner/Intermediate/Leadline/Lunge-line should arrive at the beginning of your scheduled lesson time in order to prepare your horse.  These lessons include hands-on instruction on grooming, tacking, and horse behavior.  Failure to arrive on time will result in reduced lesson time.

  • Advanced/Groundwork/Obstacle student should arrive 20-15 minutes prior to your lesson time in order to help prepare your horse.  These lessons do not include instruction on grooming and tacking, only supervision of these tasks is provided, so please arrive 20-15 minutes prior to your lesson time in order to help prepare your horse.  Failure to arrive on time will result in reduced lesson time.

  • Beginner/Intermediate/Lunge-line lessons are 1 hour including instruction on grooming/tacking.  Advanced/Groundwork/Obstacle lessons are 45 minutes not including grooming and  tacking time.  Leadline line lessons are 45 minutes including grooming/tacking instruction.
