Evolve within Our Program

There are no shortcuts. Learning to ride is a lifelong endeavor.

But here at Peace of Mind, we teach you how to get onto the highway instead of turning down a dead-end street.

Using the best techniques and strategies, we teach lifelong skills of horsemanship that will tear down walls standing between you and the rider that you want to be.

Our Curriculum = Correct Mechanics = The Science of Riding

Comprehensive Curriculum

POM’s goal oriented curriculum boosts abilities, knowledge, and enrichment through changes in permanent muscle and procedural memory.

POM instructors build comprehensive understanding with students on key topics for rider development: equitation, exercises, movements, aids and horse behavior.  Learning is holistic and appropriate based on the students age and abilities.  For success, learning should be continuous.

Goal-oriented Lessons

Goal oriented lessons help riders improve coordination, confidence and strength in order to communicate properly with the horse.

At each level, new movements are introduced to refine feel, shape, and connection.  Riders continue to build on a strong foundation while their progress becomes an accomplishment.  Our program is designed to help riders achieve ownership of their riding progress.  Results will prepare riders for a lifetime of meaningful saddle time or competitions in dressage, working Equitation, eventing or western riding.

Well-trained Horses

Horses in our program have been chosen with a focus on safety.

Horses in our program have been chosen with a focus on safety. We believe that riders need to focus on their development first and need skills and confidence - our horses are well-trained and receive the best care so they are ready to learn from.

Experienced Instructors

Measurable progress comes from a student’s understanding of the lesson.

Our lessons provide clear steps forward through patterns and explanations, resulting in a feeling of accomplishment. Elevating your riding and rising up the levels begins with a correct foundation.

Our 3 instructors manage small class sizes and deliver individualized feedback, challenging and supporting every student based on abilities, readiness, and according to proven curriculum.

Elevate Your Equitation

  • Horse in an outdoor arena with a rider holding a lead rope, standing near a blue tarp on the ground, surrounded by traffic cones marked with letters A, B, C, and F at Peace of Mind Equestrian Academy.

    Groundwork Sessions

Groundwork sessions transform flat and lifeless body language into a dance.  With expert supervision, students are shown the use of posture, energy, and timing.  Every interaction we have with the horses gives us an opportunity to manage our communication.  Practice managing this connection improves clarity and resolves confusion.  It’s satisfying and refreshing to stretch and strengthen this relationship tool.

  • Person in riding attire on white horse with another person adjusting harness indoors at Peace of Mind Equestrian Academy.

    Private Sessions

Private sessions focus our experienced staff on an individual horse and rider partnership.  When your experience in other programs became stuck, POM can identify where learning has become blocked and strategically address needs for the horse and rider with a transparent program.  POM improves outcomes through structured training which is tailored to the specific needs or issues of the horse or rider.  Whether we need to address confusion, fears or a lack of direction, POM will enhance understanding using targeted exercises.  Riding becomes fun when we feel confident about our journey.  Private sessions are best suited to competition preparation, to resolve fear issues, or to clarify the learning process at all stages.

  • Young child riding a horse indoors, wearing a helmet and sitting on a saddle in an arena at Peace of Mind Equestrian Academy.

    Lunge Line Lessons

Lunge line lessons are a foundational tool for focused improvement on rider position and mechanical effectiveness in the saddle.  Riders earn confidence through their heightened sense of balance.  Students gain an understanding of the rider’s body and how each part communicates to the horse.

  • Person on horseback holding a pole, another person leading them in an outdoor arena with obstacles, trees, and sky in the background at Peace of Mind Equestrian Academy.

    Obstacle Work

Obstacle work challenges the precision, effectiveness, attention and lightness of the horse and rider partnership.  This training provides mental stimulation, variety, and exposure.  It’s fun and a great cross training program.  Riders use Working Equitation exercises which involve lateral work, rein back, circles, and changes of direction to improve their control of the horse.  Another option for those who wish to test their horse’s footwork and their dressage skills.  This growing discipline has tons of appeal for kids as well.

  • Four people riding horses outdoors near a barn on a sunny day at Peace of Mind Equestrian Academy.

    Group and Family Lessons

Group and family lessons deliver learning acceleration in multiple ways.  Feeling, watching, and directing happen all at once in this format.  Once riders are competent in managing a horse on the perimeter of the arena, group sessions add to the fun and community for the horses and riders. Group sessions simulate a competition environment and herd dynamics.  Through the confidence, independence, and precision developed here, riders ensure their skills are well rounded and functional. Families can share the incredible experience of horses with each other.  Whether you are planning a family vacation, want the whole family to achieve basic riding aptitude or are preparing to purchase a family horse, these sessions will step up your game.

    Riding Camps

Riding camps offer ample outdoor time, physical skill building, and group learning through stations.  Each camp day will include a structured riding lesson to safely and effectively engage each student at their own level.  Out of the saddle time expands on every aspect of horse care.  Stations focus on herd dynamics, proper grooming, horse nutrition, equipment and tack, stable management, and safe barn etiquette.  Our excellent instructors engage small groups.  Fun activities and crafts round out each day!

Peace of Mind is a community of like-minded riders learning and enjoying horses together.
